A Dream Called Mon Ami
It all began with a simple idea many years ago, while wandering the charming streets of France, a thought crossed our minds: why not bring the elegance of French hospitality to Sri Lanka? We wanted to create a place that felt like home, where the essence of Sri Lankan ‘’ayubowan’’ meets the subtle grace of French ‘’Bonjour’’. It’s a blend of local spirit and global inspiration. A relaxation with just the right amount of sparkle!
Years passed, and we held onto the idea, refining and nurturing it until the time was right. We knew this industry well, but we wanted to try something fresh a hotel that redefined hospitality, not through extravagance but through heartfelt service and genuine experiences. So, instead of following the conventional paths of resorts or boutique hotels, we set out to create something truly unique.
In September 2022, Mon Ami City Hotel gradually took shape! Like a mosaic coming together, every piece fit perfectly to create the space we envisioned a place where every guest is more than just a visitor. From welcoming smiles to thoughtful details, every corner of our hotel reflects our passion and love for hospitality. We faced challenges along the way, but they only made us stronger and more determined to offer something special.

Nestled in the stunning surrounds of Bundjalung Country, Gaia’s story began organically, inspired by friendship, dreams and synchronicity. With a shared vision of heart and healing, this piece of paradise in the Byron Bay Hinterland was born.

It all began in 1995, when we received the keys to the legendary Nouvhotel. Since then we’ve grown to a carefully curated collection of travel adventures, each with a rich story to tell.
